Labyrinth Walk Honoring the 2021 Winter Solstice

One of the most interesting features in the park is the labyrinth, located towards the western end of the park.  Labyrinths, which date back to ancient times, encourage contemplation on the journey from the outer edge along a circular path to the center.  Walking the turnings of the labyrinth path is thought to help one disconnect from the outside world, and achieve a quiet mind. Children also enjoy following the labyrinth path, on foot or on bicycle, to find their way to the center.

The TKF Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes urban green spaces to facilitate community healing, provided funds for constructing the labyrinth and for a teak bench and a diary for visitors to use to record their experiences there.

Labyrinth Walk Honoring the 2021 Winter Solstice

On December 19th, 2021 friends and supporters of the Park gathered for  Labyrinth Walk honoring the Winter Solstice. During our event, attendees learned the history of labyrinths, their purpose, how to add it to your day, and how walking them can be spiritual and meditative. Done in partnership with Nature Sacred, the afternoon event was a wonderful way to usher in Winter.
